# Milestone 21 - Advanced Chat Enhancements

## Objective

Upgrade the chat module from basic direct/group messaging into a collaboration workspace that can share project delivery context and support richer team communication.

## Scope

- Share milestones, sprints, and tasks directly into a direct or group chat thread.
- Add contextual link previews for shared work items.
- Add advanced chat search across people, groups, and message bodies.
- Add message reactions, edit/delete controls, and attachments.
- Add typing indicators and delivery/read receipts.
- Add role-aware group management for Admin, Project Manager, and Team Lead users.
- Add chat notification deep links that open the correct thread and message.

## Acceptance Criteria

- Users can share a milestone, sprint, or task from the work management screen into an existing chat.
- Shared work items include a readable summary: project, owner/assignee, status, progress, dates, and key notes.
- Chat notifications identify who sent the message and open the related thread.
- Advanced chat features remain permission-aware and preserve developer data restrictions.
- The module works in real time through Socket.IO and degrades gracefully after reconnect.
